Lesson Requirements

Students will need a well-maintained and tuned acoustic piano or full-sized weighted digital keyboard for daily practice. I will provide a binder for student assignments, and all books will be purchased by me and charged to your account.

Parental Support is an extremely important factor in musical training. Students whose parents take an active role in their progress tend to be more enthusiastic and productive. Provide a quiet space where the student can practice, and encourage a regularly scheduled practice time each day.

Attendance and Cancellations

Regular attendance is necessary in order to gain the most from your lessons.  If it is necessary to cancel a lesson, please call, text or e-mail, and let me know as soon as possible.  There is no refund for missed lessons.

At the end of each semester (in December and May), I will offer makeup lesson times to makeup for any lessons missed during the semester.  On occasion, it may also be possible to reschedule a lesson outside of makeup lesson week, but this is never guaranteed.

If I need to cancel lessons for any reason, the lesson will either be made up or a credit will be issued to your account.  In the case of bad weather, I usually leave it up to your discretion on whether it is safe for you to travel to lessons.  If you can’t make it to the lesson due to bad weather, then I will work with you to figure out the best way to make it up.

Recitals

There will be a spring recital each year and occasionally a Christmas recital in December.  Recitals are great for boosting a student's confidence and musicianship and giving them concrete goals to work toward.  Participation in recitals is required, unless prior arrangements are made with me.  There are no fees required for recital participation.

Tuition and Fees

Tuition is $90 per month for all private lesson students (preschool-adult).  This is a set rate regardless of how many lessons are held each month.  There will be 32 lessons during the school year (August-May), and it is expected that students will commit to lessons through the duration of the school year. Tuition is due at the first lesson of the month and may be paid via Paypal, check or cash.  If payment is not received by the second lesson of the month, a $10 late fee will be charged.

A yearly activity fee of $20 per student is due at the beginning of each school year.  This activity fee helps to cover the cost of music subscriptions, printing, activities and prizes throughout the school year.

There will also be an additional fee for books as needed by the student.  I customize lessons for each student (based on their learning needs and lesson goals) and use a variety of piano method books including (but not limited to): Wunderkeys, Piano Adventures, Piano Pronto, Supersonics and Alfred Premiere.
